Our History
Goodmans® has been a household name in the UK for over 90 years. Our journey began in 1925, when property developer and entrepreneur Goodwin Rotberg diversified into radio manufacturing. Based in Wembley, North London, he started producing valve radios under the name ‘Goodwins’.
In the 1930s, Rotberg shortened the name to ‘Goodmans’ and business took off. Goodmans radios became hugely popular, with models like the Goodmans ARP Radio flying off the shelves.
After WWII, Goodmans shifted production from radios to TVs. We were one of the early British TV producers and launched many innovations including the first 17-inch color TV. By the 60s, a Goodmans TV could be found in living rooms up and down the country.
Fast forward to the 80s, and Goodmans Hi-Fi was leading the way. Our rack systems and speakers delivered premium sound quality that audiophiles loved.
Today, we continue to innovate. Our R&D facility in Havant, Hampshire focuses on developing the next generation of smart home appliances, audio devices and visual technology.
